Long Term Care Insurance includes:

Nursing Facility Benefit

This benefit will provide money to pay for care in a nursing home setting when you require care due to the need for assistance with at least 2 of 6 approved activities of daily living (ADL) or due to cognitive impairment.

Home Health Care Benefit

This benefit will provide money to pay for care in a residential setting when you require care due to the need for assistance with at least 2 of 6 approved activities of daily living (ADL) or due to cognitive impairment.

Important Policy Provisions

• Daily or Monthly Benefit: This is the maximum amount that your policy will pay on a daily or monthly basis.
• Elimination Period: This is your “deductible” under the policy - the period of time that you are required to need care before your benefits will begin.
• Length of Coverage: This is the maximum period of time that benefits will be paid by the insurance company.
• Reimbursement vs. Cash: This will determine how benefits will be paid at the time of claim. Under a reimbursement policy, you must pay the bills up-front and submit them for reimbursement. Under a cash policy, you will receive the full benefit of your insurance policy on a monthly basis once you are approved for claims, and you may use that cash as you see fit.
• Inflation Protection: This provision allows your Long Term Care policy to keep pace with inflation by periodically increasing the benefit on either a simple inflation calculation or a compounding inflation calculation.
